Mr. Jenkins and the Early Morning Start Time

There is an understanding on Magnolia Lane regarding mornings. They should begin slowly. Quietly. Respectfully. Mr. Jenkins does not share this understanding.

Activity began at what Gladys has confirmed was “too early for machinery.” The sun had barely committed to being up. The street had not yet settled into its proper rhythm.

And yet. The mower started. Ethel did not look pleased.

“This is unnecessary,” she said.

Correct. There are acceptable windows for lawn maintenance. This was not one of them.

“Now listen,” Gladys said, “if I’m awake, that’s one thing.” A pause. “But I don’t need to be awake because of him.”

The sound carried. Across Magnolia Lane. Through otherwise peaceful conditions. Interrupting what should have been a calm and orderly start to the day.

Of note: The Recycling Day Crew has demonstrated similar timing concerns, though their efficiency provides some justification. Mr. Jenkins, however, remained on his lawn for an extended period.

There was no urgency.

Just commitment.

The Mail Carrier later passed through without issue, maintaining schedule and composure. The Walker adjusted timing slightly, which suggests impact.

This has been logged.

Porch Verdict

“There’s no reason for that,” Gladys said.

Ethel took a sip of her tea.

“None,” she agreed.
