There are decorations… and then there is what Mrs. Patterson has done.
We became aware of the situation early.
Too early.
At first, it was subtle. A wreath. Pastel. Acceptable. Within seasonal expectations.
“No issues,” Ethel said.
“For now,” Gladys replied.
By midday, the situation had changed.
Additional items appeared.
Eggs. Multiple. Not arranged, but placed. Strategically, one might assume, though the overall vision remained unclear at that time.
Then came the inflatables.
Gladys stood immediately.
“Now listen,” she said, “you get one inflatable. Maybe two if you’ve earned it.”
Mrs. Patterson has not limited herself to one.
Or two.
From our vantage point, we have confirmed:
- At least three inflatable figures
- One rabbit of significant size
- Additional smaller decorative elements placed throughout the yard
“It’s escalating,” Ethel said.
Correct.
By late afternoon, Magnolia Lane had reached what can only be described as full Easter activation. The yard was no longer simply decorated. It had become a statement.
Lights were also introduced.
This was unexpected.
“It’s daytime,” Ethel noted.
“That hasn’t stopped her,” Gladys replied.
Of note: The Visiting Grandchildren showed immediate interest upon arrival later in the day. Increased movement, pointing, and what appeared to be excitement were observed.
“They like it,” Gladys admitted.
“They would,” Ethel said. “They don’t have standards yet.”
The Walker passed during peak display conditions and maintained proper composure, though there was a noticeable pause in stride. This has been logged.
Mr. Jenkins continued mowing operations without interruption, which suggests either strong focus or intentional avoidance.
The Girl took at least four photographs of the display.
This is concerning.
“She thinks it’s charming,” Gladys said.
“She would,” Ethel replied.
We will continue to monitor for further additions, as Mrs. Patterson has demonstrated a pattern of escalation during holiday periods.
There is no indication that she is finished.

Porch Verdict
“There’s such a thing as too much,” Gladys said, watching the inflatable rabbit shift slightly in the breeze.
Ethel took a slow sip of her tea.
“And she found it,” she said.
A pause.
“Then kept going.”
